Video Games Are Cool!

By Edward Araujo

Mothers always say video games rot your brains, well at least mine does. So I am here to prove that is wrong and show that they help you.

Games provide a way for you to relax. If something is bothering you, games can help take your mind off of it. Games have a way of distracting people from what’s going on in their life and what is happening around them. People also find games relaxing because they are focused and determined to finish what they started.

Another way games help you is when you have a cooperative game with friends or other people online, it makes your stress levels go down according to Verywell. “When you play a cooperative game it lowers your stress levels since there is no negative effect when playing, when it starts to happen it affects your real life” and thats why mothers say it does.

Also, virtual reality can help you relax. Like its name say you are it is like you are in a completely different world. VR offers peaceful games and ones that can be very relaxing like Minecraft where you can build what you want and let your imagination roam free.

A lot of games can help improve your skills in your daily life. One of those skills is problem solving, according to Engadget. “It makes you think quick since the games have certain rules you have to follow and you have to make a quick decision that will decide if you advance to the next level or not.” It also improves your memory since the game can give you directions at the beginning and you have to remember them throughout the game. Another thing is video games help your concentration since the player wants to achieve a certain objective within the game and or advance to the next level. This helps improve your multitasking skills since you have to look at the screen and at the same time you have to press the buttons to play.

Most kids will say that they play with people online and when that happens it improves their social skills. When kids are constantly playing different games at different times they meet other people and start to form a bond with them.

Games can also get you money in more ways than one. One way you can get money is with Twitch because the people who are watching you can donate to you and you receive that money. “Not only that you also receive money from ads because every time a new person comes on stream they watch and ad and for every time they click on the add twitch sends you the money through paypal or whatever money app you may use.” according to Smart Asset.” You can also make money by creating youtube video games YouTube and earn money with the content you make. You can also make video games. Most games have in game purchases inside of the game and you receive that money. Not only can you make different games you can also make game bundles that are larger than the other purchases that will give the player a lot of items for even more money. Some games also have tournaments and if you win you can recieve a huge amount of money.

It help others in the form Twitch streamers. They have done live charity events in which they earn an amount of money you donate to them and give fraction of the money they earn and donate that to a charity. Game developers have tournaments for the game in which players participate and whoever wins will win the money and donate that to charity in large amounts. Twitch streamers also donate to charities so they feel good for themselves and do it for a goal or their chat.

Moreover, also allows people with either disabilities or are very shy to communicate with people and get rid of the fear they have.

Here are some voices from HPCMS students. Daniel from 603 said that video games help “by taking my mind off and having fun.’’ Farhan, also from 603, said, “I can chill and let go of bad vibes. Plus it is fun and PUBG...” well he used another word for stinks. These are ways games have helped everyone who plays them.
