By Jose Rios Daniel Hernandez, known by his stage name 6ix9ine was born on May 8, 1996 in Bushwick, Brooklyn to a Mexican mother (from Atlixco) and a Puerto Rican father. He was raised by both his mother and father until the age of 13 and grew up alongside his brother. In 2009, his father was murdered one block away from his house which led him to working in various jobs to support his family. 6ix9ine was expelled from school in 8th grade in part because of the death of his father. 6ix9ine gained popularity in late 2017 when he released his debut single Gummo. The song placed number 12 on the US Billboard “Hot 100” and was certified platinum. In early 2018, 6ix9ine released his debut mixtape, Day69, which placed in number four on the “Billboard 200” album chart. Later on that year, he collaborated with Nicki Minaj on “FEFE” which also made it on Billboard Hot 100.
