Student Profile: Jada Pilgrim!

Hi, my name is Pema Yangchen and I’m doing an HPCMS student profile on a new student each month! A few months ago, the New York Times published an article on 48 of the coolest kids in New York and it inspired me to do a profile on some of the amazing kids we have right here at HPCMS! This week we will start with the super smart, determined and friendly Jada Pilgrim!

  • Funniest (but appropriately funny) moment from this year: When Pema lost her pants at a volleyball game in another middle school
  • Someone you look up to, like an idol : Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres
Jada is an amazing student in many ways. For example, she’s in the volleyball competitive team. In addition, she is a unique student with unique characteristics. One characteristic that she has is that she is kind and caring. Another characteristic that she has is that she never gives up. Will you be the next student that I will do a student profile on?

Musicals like Dear Evan Hansen, Hamilton, Wicked, Matilda, The Lion King, Cats, Mean Girls, Phantom of the Opera, etc. The problem is, some people stereotype musicals to be happy and cheerful. But musicals can also have dark stories, cliffhangers and can help people get through some difficult times. They can even help people express their feelings. But overall, they are just as great as movies or shows and can also have cult followings. We at HPCMS here in Long Island City have our own musical productions too. The Beautiful Woman By Savannah Parker  Chapter 1: Heartbeat Ironically, it was sunny, a beautiful day. I woke up on the floor at a dim house, the light from outside shined through the large window, blinding me. I didn't remember anything from last night. As I forced my eyes open, I saw another person.
