The 1900s: Century of Misfortune, Part 1- Remnants of the 1800s By Farhan Ahmed Imagine this: You are a 15 year old Jewish boy in 1942 being taken to a strange camp in Berlin, where the smell of blood taints your nose. You don’t know what to do, but the only thing you’ve been told to do before being separated from your parents is to run and never tell anyone who you truly are. You do so, only to live a life of pure hell for the rest of your 50 years of life.  Needless to say, the 20th century was an eventful century, and it defined the events of the 21st century, even now as there are parts of the world still recovering from wars from feuds that started decades ago. This is the first of a three part article series breaking down the events of the 20th century, starting with the events directly affected by the previous century up until World War 1. Boxer Rebellion (China 1899 - 1901) Outraged by the increase of Western and Japanese influence in North China, or the then-Qing Dy...

Among Us: Tips and Tricks

Image
By Julian Feliciano 1: If you are the imposter, l ock doors to make sure nobody sees you! 2: Learn the tasks! 3: Use sabotage. 4: Accuse someone else if you are seen. The best defense is a good offense. 5: Kill the lights--it is easier to remain unseen in the dark. 6: If you are a crewmate and you have a medbay scan, do it in front of your teammates! 7: Use the cameras at security. It's like having eyes on everyone! 8: Memorize where the camera locations are in each map if you are an imposter, so you don’t get caught! 9: If you are an imposter in a vent, your kill cooldown won’t go down at all. You need to be outside the vents. 10: Make sure the cameras aren't red. If they are someone, is watching you.

Toxic Masculinity: How Can We Stop This?

Image
By: Daniel Bejan, Briana Naranjo, and Savannah Parker Toxic Masculinity has been around for years. Due to the stereotypes men face in society, many are brought down and can’t express themselves. Toxic masculinity is what men are taught to believe is “manly.” An example of this is that you can not act “feminine.” Other examples are, they are told to “act tough,”  “be macho,” “don’t cry, you look like a girl.” For many boys/men, this has been the stereotype ever since they were born. Many people believe that toxic masculinity should not exist and that now people are allowed to express themselves no matter what gender they identify as. Others, on the other hand, don’t have the same opinion since for years men had always been the “manly” ones.  Over the years, the media has had its opinions on toxic masculinity. One big controversy that happened in 2020 was Harry Styles on the cover of Vogue Magazine. Harry Styles was the first-ever male to wear a couture gown on the cover of Vog...

By  Sanija Omeragic      Imagine being a teen in a creepy town with weird stuff. Being surrounded by different creatures: vampires, wolves, witches, hybrids, all of that. You go to your high school and find this very mysterious, good-looking boy in your classes. You start talking to him a lot, knowing you both have quite a lot in common, but then you start to get very suspicious. He starts turning away each time you get hurt. Imagine you hang out with a boy you think is very cool and good looking, and you go to his house. What if you saw black/grey veins coming from his eyes, wouldn't you be scared and get out of there?  I think everyone would. That's the basis of The Vampire Diaries. The Vampire Diaries is a very fun show that deals with relationships, drama, and m ystery. As the actors have said about the show, it was enjoyable to make and they had a great time working together to make it. But after season 6 things got quite awkward in the sho...
